I look forward to presenting at the Newberry Institute in February. My research suggests rethinking Geronimo’s biographical account through Indigenous perspective and advocates for liberating the Apache leader's remains. My essay was inspired by a work published in 2017 by Jamie Vela, the great nephew of Geronimo. Vela's essay is titled, "Returning Geronimo to His Homeland: The Application of NAGPRA and Broken Treaties to the Case of Geronimo's Repatriation." I hope to see some of you at the conference. I will be attending the hybrid conference online. The conference itinerary is posted below for your review.
